Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest and first purpose-built cruise ship the Asia market, Norwegian Joy, has completed her first preview cruise.
David Herrera, President of NCLH China said:
“Norwegian Cruise Line is extremely proud to welcome the newest addition to our fleet, Norwegian Joy, to her home port of Shanghai, China” “Norwegian Joy’s arrival demonstrates our commitment to the Chinese cruise market. She was custom-built with Chinese cruise guests in mind.”
Norwegian Joy also features some firsts for a cruise ship, including the first race-track at sea. The two-level track located on decks, 18 and 19, runs 750 feet and features a viewing platform, covered pit lane, workshop, storage room, timing system and floodlights. This isn’t a watered-down version of a go-cart track, as the three speed selections from beginning to expert can have guests reaching a top speed of 23 miles per hour.
Another new feature is the Galaxy Pavilion, a space for immersive virtual reality experiences, simulator rides and hover bumper cars.
Norwegian Joy has an abundance of features that appeal to the modern Chinese family, including staterooms especially designed for multi-generational families traveling together.
Year-round voyages from her new home-port of Shanghai begin on June 28 with a season of sailings from Tianjin from August 26 to September 15.
